GPJ Consulting Engineers were employed by the Hotel to carry out the detailed design of the mechanical and electrical services within the new spa complex.
Ventilation, Electrical, Lighting, Heating and domestic plumbing were all designed and integrated within the new structure to form a minimalistic installation to suit the tranquillity of the spa complex.
A condensing boiler, underfloor heating and a heat recovery air handling unit were all installed.
Colour changing LED lighting along with a scene setting controller were also installed to allow the users to adapt the ambient lighting to suit the time of day or treatments offered.

GPJ Consulting Engineers were employed by the Met Office to design an energy saving “free cooling” installation to reduce energy costs compared to conventional refrigerant or chilled water cooling. The system utilises a roof mounted evaporative chiller providing chilled water to help cool the critical weather forecasting computers. The system saves the Met Office approximately £270,000 per annum and has achieved a 2.7 year payback.
As well as the roof top chiller internal heat exchangers, pumping circuits and underfloor distribution pipework was all designed to enable installation around the existing services, minimising shutdowns.

GPJ Consulting Engineers were appointed by the university Estates Team to work alongside the other members of the project team to provide a fully designed Mechanical and Electrical installation for the new 1000 sqm Fox 4 Creative Arts Building.
Systems designed included a full ventilation system for all teaching spaces to comply with Building Bulletin 101. Underfloor heating was specified for all teaching spaces to offer a comfortable working environment whilst providing free wall space for art work display. All lighting is daylight controlled to provide a constant level of illumination whilst offering energy savings.
New high efficiency condensing gas boilers were installed. All of the ventilation and heating systems were controlled via a new building management system (BMS) to offer the client optimum control over the building’s operation with dedicated metering of gas, water, electrical and heating systems to provide an instantaneous view of the buildings energy usage.
All M&E installations were tailored to meet the requirements of BREEAM which achieved a Very Good standard upon building completion.

GPJ Consulting Engineers were employed in this 2 part project to provide M&E services for the refurbishment of the old mining buildings into an educational visitor attraction. The original site was the base for Camborne School of Mines and as such had a vast amount of historical importance.
The projects were to provide a café/restaurant and community hub within the Assay building and a exhibition space within the site’s old boiler house.
GPJ Consulting Engineers designed the M&E for both buildings, which included underfloor heating, small power, lighting, domestic hot water, commercial kitchen services along with provision for the exhibition space audio visual installations.
Utilities negotiations were also carried out to provide new gas, water, electrical and telephone connections to the relevant buildings.
